LYCIAN TRAIL |
The
seashore, village and mountain paths of the Lycian Trail, stretching
from Fethiye to Antalya, once linked the ancient cities of the
Lycia people. This trail holds the secrets and mysteries of 3000
years
of Lycian civilization (2500BC-600AD). As you walk along the trail,
you’ll see startling panoramic views, original cave dwellings,
city remains (Lycian, Roman, and Byzantine), and fascinating rock-cut
tombs (dating from 5th Century B. C. to the Roman period), and
semi-nomadic
villages. The Lycian country is best traveled in the spring and
autumn. Ancient roads and mountain paths make the journey easier,
although
it can be difficult, and in many places the magnificent view is
a splendid reward for the challenging climb. Experience a unique
part
of Turkey. Walk as the Lycians did, feel the richness of their
history, touch the magic of their civilization, and see the wonderful
natural
beauty of the Lycian Trail where mountains caress the sea.
